FAQ
Most underarm deodorants and antiperspirants are packed with aluminium and parabens. The health concerns of using them range from increased risk of skin infections to clinical studies showing an increased risk of cancer.
To understand how our natural deodorants work, first we need to understand the difference between deodorants and antiperspirants.
While antiperspirants work by actively blocking the pores with aluminium, deodorants eliminate odour by absorbing your sweat and killing the bacteria that produce body odour.
Scrubber uses natural ingredients to effectively replicate how aluminium packed deodorants work. Powerful natural arrowroot absorbs excess sweat, while the antibacterial properties of many of our ingredients prevent bacteria from growing and producing body odour.
Our dry shampoo soaks up the oils in your hair whilst leaving a fresh smell to tide you over until you have time to wash your hair.
Scrubber is the UK’s most affordable and best smelling natural deodorant.
We don’t believe that you should pay a premium for natural and ethical products, which is why we price our products fairly and affordably. We believe that everyone should have access to high quality, eco friendly products and don’t think you should compromise on effectiveness when switching to a natural deodorant.
Not only are our deodorants entirely plastic free and eco-friendly, but they have received rave reviews - just check out our testimonials to see.
Use daily after showering and in the morning. Gently push up the bottom of the tube and hold the exposed bit of deodorant against your underarm.
After a couple of seconds the deodorant stick will warm up, allowing you to glide it around and leave a thin layer of deodorant on your underarms.
Use whenever your hair needs a little pick-me-up. Gently shake a small amount of dry shampoo onto your roots and massage into your hair and until absorbed and invisible. Some users like to brush it into their hair as well. Add more as needed. Depending on how much you use with each application, one tube of Scrubber should last between 1 and 3 months.
Arrowroot powder
Arrowroot powder is a natural and non-toxic moisture absorber. It is 100% plant derived and is an ethically grown crop.
It is very effective at absorbing moisture, helping keep your pits dry throughout the day.
Shea Butter
Shea butter is widely used in balms and moisturisers. It is packed with vitamins and fatty acids that are great for your skin.
Coconut Oil
We use unrefined, pure coconut oil.
Not only is it a fantastic moisturiser, but it is naturally antibacterial, helping to reduce the odour causing bacteria.
Sodium Bicarbonate
Just ordinary old baking powder.
We a very small amount of it to hinder bacterial growth and prevent body odour.
For some with very sensitive skin, this can cause irritation. We also offer a formula with no sodium bicarbonate at all, simply select “extra sensitive” when checking out.
Soya Wax
Helps us nail the lovely consistency and texture!
Bentonite Clay
Used for 1000s of years as a mild, natural cleaning powder, bentonite clay is a powerful absorbent, making hair look clean and shiny.
Every stick of deodorant is made in our (now very fragrant) London workshop.
Yes! Our co-founder Emily is a chronic eczema sufferer, who is unable to use most natural deodorants.
For those with extra-sensitive skin, we can also pour an alternate formulation that uses natural minerals instead of anti-bacterial ingredients which can irritate those with especially sensitive skin.
While not as potent as the normal formula, for those who are struggling to find a sensitive natural deodorant that still works, we're confident that ours will be hard to beat!
Just select "extra sensitive" from the drop down menu.
Depending on how much you use with each application, one stick of Scrubber deodorant should last between 1 and 3 months, while dry shampoo lasts around 6 weeks for most users.
Our subscription model allows you to choose how often you receive a new tube, but we usually find people re-order every 8 to 9 weeks.
Like all roll on and stick deodorants, Scrubber can leave residue on clothes.
However, unlike chemical packed antiperspirants which leave permanent stains, our deodorant is completely water soluble and should come right out in the wash.
In the long term, residue can build up in areas in constant contact with the deodorant. If this happens, simply rub detergent or even a small amount (teaspoon at max) of dish soap on the stain for a couple of hours before rinsing and washing as normal.
We "pop" up every tube by a couple of mm to break the seal formed as the deodorant dries, but when the weather gets cold, or if it hasn't been used for a while, the deodorant can harden again, making it tricky to push up the bottom of the tube.
It helps to warm up your tube, which can be done by rubbing it between your hands for 20 seconds, or putting it in a pocket against your body for a couple minutes.
Keep your tube somewhere warmer, like a bedroom or somewhere near (but NOT on!) a radiator.
Yes! Because our deodorant sticks are solid they can be taken on planes.
Despite being made from compostable card and paper, our tubes are very rugged and will survive being banged about in your suitcase or bag!
Yes, Scrubber is completely vegan and plant derived.
While other natural deodorants use beeswax, we use wax pellets so vegans can enjoy it too!
Scrubber is completely cruelty free. It is not tested on animals (unless you consider our co-founder and chief guinea pig Scott an animal) and all ingredients are ethically sourced.
